Meet Colin

My Story

After graduating from the University of Virginia, I began my career as a math teacher in Baltimore with Teach for America, where I discovered a true passion for education. After our teaching commitment, my wife and I were fortunate to return to Charlottesville, VA, for her medical training, and I accepted a position at a small hedge fund. Over the next decade, I grew as both a professional and an investor—learning the theory and practice of disciplined investing and risk management, while building connections across the financial industry. Still, I found myself missing the deep connection to clients’ everyday lives that I so enjoyed in teaching.

Throughout the years, my wife and I have greatly benefited from working with a financial planner—helping us manage student debt, buy a home, grow our family, and own businesses. I’ve seen firsthand both the value and the pitfalls of financial planning as family members have navigated career changes, financial setbacks, unexpected health crises, disability, retirement, and the loss of a parent or spouse. The right financial planner can serve as a guide to achieving your goals and a trusted resource during times of uncertainty.

Since becoming a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional and founding Oakleigh Wealth Services in Charlottesville, I am deeply grateful to have found a calling that engages both my head and my heart. Whether you are facing a specific obstacle, pursuing a dream, providing for your family, giving back to your community, or simply enjoying the fruits of your labor, I look forward to serving you.

Outside the Office:

You’ll find me spending time outdoors with my wife and family—hiking, mountain biking, skiing, camping, and fishing. I’m a board game enthusiast, bridge player, and enjoy cooking, carpentry, gardening, and raising backyard chickens. I’m also actively involved in our community at Christ Episcopal Church in Charlottesville.
